Hungary cuts VAT on pigs and carcase meat

Hungary has decided to decrease the value added tax (VAT) on live pigs and half carcases in a bid to stimulate the country’s consumption of pork and combat illegal trade. Effective from 1 January 2014, the tax was lowered from 27% to 5%.
